Common Sense Ventures’ mission is to invest in, support and create early-stage quality companies with long-term goals and ambitions. We try to help founders demystify the early-stage venture process.

We offer specific help, such as financial analysis, board representation, marketing support, operational support and guidance for Australian companies launching in the US.
Long Term Partners.
We work with founders for the long term by investing and supporting them throughout their journey. Our operational experience helps us understand the ups and downs that entrepreneurs will go through and appreciate the importance of long term partners to weather these times.
The Team
Owen Symington
Managing Director
Most recently, Owen ran and sold Pod & Parcel, Australia’s leading sustainable coffee pod brand. Owen is taking his previous Investment Banking experience and operations experience to work with Australian people and companies that he believes will have a significant impact on the world.
Owen has a B.A. from Yale University and rowed for the Australian National Team.
John Symington
Director
John is currently the Managing Director and owner of the award-winning olive oil producer, Oasis Olives, where he operates farms across Australia and South America. Previously, he was Managing Director of Shortcuts Software, Deep Sky Retail and Common Sense Computing.
John is interested in using technology to solve problems and has applied that across a long career in software and agriculture.
John has B.Sc in Computer Science and enjoys cycling along the Great Ocean road.
